Check Your Mental Programming
Mental Programming – what thoughts are driving your everyday behavior and results? What are you attracting into your life by your limiting beliefs? How have you conditioned yourself to think? Are you consciously telling yourself that the glass is half-empty? Maybe you’re telling yourself you can achieve a big goal, but subconsciously your hidden, more powerful belief system is saying you can’t?
A common challenge we all face is that we don’t really know what we think at the subconscious level. It’s below the consciousness. Hidden. It’s so automatic and common to us that we do not see it. The problem is how we see the problem. We see things through our belief systems. Our perspective becomes our reality. We spend our time trying to solve problems, but the way we see the problem is the problem, usually.
Your hidden beliefs are powerful. They also place limits on you. What thoughts have you been condition to believe that aren’t serving you? Why are you still holding on to those beliefs? Learn to challenge your assumptions. Ask yourself, “Where did this belief come from?” “Does this belief serve me or limit me?”
A man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions. – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
It’s vital that we confront our limiting beliefs and doubts that we have buried beneath the surface. One common challenge all humans have is the challenge of fear. We have a fear of failure, a fear of success, a fear of rejection. Our limiting beliefs magnify these fears within us. They drive us to become insecure in ourselves and our abilities. They inhibit our performance. Fear could stand for two things:
- FEAR – Forget Everything And Run
- FEAR – Face Everything And Rise
If we decide to hold on to outdated, limiting belief systems that don’t serve us, and only put limits on us, then we will stay stuck. Those belief systems will continue to trigger challenges in our lives.
Think of an affirmation or mantra you have recited or believed all of your life. What impact has this had on your outcomes? What might change if you believed something entirely different? How would you feel without these limiting thoughts and beliefs? What new beliefs can you replace existing beliefs that don’t serve you. Here’s a great image from Bob Proctor on how the conscious and subconscious mind work.
